At the end of a peaceful lane in Seahouses, Harbourmaster Cottage is a superb dog friendly cottage for a couple or a family of four. Two dogs are welcome, and with Seahouses Beach, its shops and its pubs all within walking distance, the car can stay put for most of the week. That beach, a sweeping sandy stretch loved by walkers and anglers, is there for the dogs every morning.
Inside, the lounge is spacious and airy, with comfortable leather seating, a TV and a coal effect electric fire for cosy evenings together, and the dogs are quick to settle in front of it. The airy kitchen and diner has everything needed for cooking up Northumberland feasts, and a spacious dining table for planning tomorrow over supper.
Outside, at the front of the cottage, an enclosed patio with outdoor furniture is a lovely spot for a quiet morning coffee while the dogs take the air, and for an evening drink once everyone is home. Upstairs, a master double and a twin share a well appointed family bathroom.
Seahouses itself has plenty of restaurants and pubs and an 18 hole golf course, and regular boat trips run along the coast to spot grey seals and out to the Farne Islands. The castles at Bamburgh, Alnwick, Dunstanburgh and Warkworth are all within 20 miles, and Holy Island, home to Lindisfarne Castle, makes a memorable day out, with the dogs along for the ride and plenty of Northumberland coast to explore at every stop.
