Tucked into the tranquil backwaters of Bourton-on-the-Water, the village they call the Venice of the Cotswolds, Hatties House is a traditional Cotswold cottage with a private enclosed garden and room for two dogs. It is a lovely dog friendly hideaway, and the protected countryside round about is full of fantastic walks.
Step through the door and you are straight into the cosy, comfortable lounge, where exposed stonework and a roaring wood burner make the cottage a joy at any time of year. Two dogs back from a long walk soon flop down by the hearth, and the Sky Q TV has a film lined up. Beyond is the open plan dining room and kitchen, with plenty of space for a relaxed meal, a lovely Welsh dresser and a Bose speaker to set the mood.
Head upstairs and there is a spacious twin room with a wardrobe and dressing table, and a king size room whose windows face the garden, as well as the bathroom and a handy separate WC. Out in the enclosed garden, the patio is laid out for dining with a BBQ and outdoor seating, and there is an area of lawn where the dogs can have a good explore. At Christmas the cottage is decorated, which adds real sparkle to a winter stay with the dogs.
Bourton's shops, cafes and restaurants are an easy stroll away, and so are its museum of motoring, the Model Village and Birdland. Waymarked footpaths and bridleways fan out across the surrounding countryside, ideal for long days with the dogs, and the Cotswold Farm Park and numerous National Trust houses and gardens are easy to reach.
