Dwygyfylchi, Conwy

A period cottage for two on the edge of Penmaenmawr, with distant sea views, a pretty enclosed garden up a few stone steps and three dogs welcome.

Book now

Hazel Cottage takes a couple and as many as three dogs. This dog friendly period cottage sits in an elevated position on the edge of Penmaenmawr, full of charm and original features, with distant coastal views and footpaths and cycle routes right on the doorstep.

The porch has space for outdoor attire, which is where coats and leads go on the way in. Beyond it, the lounge has a parquet floor, a Smart TV with Netflix and a feature fireplace where a gas fire glows like a wood burner, and the dogs will claim the spot nearest the fire before long. The kitchen has all the equipment needed to rustle up a meal, and the dining table looks up towards the garden. On the first floor the twin bedroom has dual aspect views of the sea and mountains, and the two singles can be pushed together.

There is a rear porch too, where coffee is taken at a table with a view of the garden and mountains beyond, the dogs already waiting by the door. A few stone steps climb to the enclosed garden, creatively laid out to face the views towards Conwy Bay at the front and the heather covered mountains behind, with a patio, a charcoal BBQ, a table and chairs, and a lockable shed for bikes or golf clubs.

The beach is 800 metres from the cottage, close enough for a first walk with the dogs before breakfast. Conwy, with its castle and harbour, and Llanfairfechan are both 3 miles away, and Llandudno has the longest pier in Wales. Penrhyn Castle, the Isle of Anglesey and Snowdonia National Park all make fine days out.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Hazel Cottage - Conwy dog friendly?

Yes, Hazel Cottage welcomes up to three dogs, which is genuinely unusual for a one bedroom cottage. There's an enclosed garden, a porch designed to catch muddy paws and wet kit on arrival, and parquet floors throughout the lounge — all practical touches that suggest the owners know exactly what travelling with dogs looks like.

  • Are dogs allowed at Hazel Cottage - Conwy year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, and the setup — fire, enclosed garden, porch entry — suits year-round visits well. For confirmation of availability at specific times of year, it's worth checking directly with the property.

  • What should I know before visiting Hazel Cottage - Conwy with my dog?

The cottage takes up to three dogs, and the enclosed garden sits above the house rather than behind it, so be ready for the BBQ run past three very interested noses. Footpaths from the village climb straight onto open moorland, which is where your dogs will likely spend most of their time — the nearest beach at Llanfairfechan is within reach but the hills will probably win.
