Heulwen Farmhouse

Capel Bangor, Ceredigion

A six bedroom farmhouse sleeping fourteen near Aberystwyth, with a private swim spa, an enclosed garden and lawn and a full size pool table, two dogs welcome.

There is a private swim spa, a rarer thing than a hot tub and considerably more use across a week. Heulwen Farmhouse sleeps fourteen over six bedrooms near Capel Bangor, a dog friendly house with an enclosed garden and lawn, a sun room and a full size pool table. The two dogs on the booking will be the only swimmers who did not plan to be.

Six bedrooms, four of them en-suite, with one on the ground floor holding a queen size bed and an en-suite wet room. The lounge and diner has a stone fireplace with an open fire and a period Welsh dresser full of crockery. The games room takes table football, a piano and the pool table. Outside, past the enclosed lawn, there is a gazebo, a fire pit and a children's playground, which gives two dogs a great deal to supervise.

Fourteen people generate their own momentum and this house is arranged to absorb it. Somebody is in the swim spa, somebody is losing at pool, somebody has taken the two dogs out and shows no sign of returning, and the sun room holds whoever decided to read instead. By evening the open fire is going, the dresser has been emptied of plates, and the dogs have located the warmest square foot in the building.

Aberystwyth sits 4 miles off, with a beach, a marina, a cliff railway and the only silver mine visitor attraction in Wales. The Rheidol valley runs inland behind the house, wooded and steep, with waterfalls in it and forestry tracks that walk well. Between coast and river there is a great deal of water within reach, and two dogs will end up in most of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Heulwen Farmhouse dog friendly?

Yes, Heulwen Farmhouse welcomes dogs — up to two are allowed on the booking. The enclosed garden and lawn give them a safe space to roam, and between the wooded Rheidol valley trails and Aberystwyth beach just 4 miles away, there's no shortage of proper adventures for them either.

  • Are dogs allowed at Heulwen Farmhouse year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the house — with its open fire, enclosed garden and surrounding countryside — feels well set up for dogs whatever the season.

  • What should I know before visiting Heulwen Farmhouse with my dog?

The property accepts two dogs, so if you're travelling with more it's worth checking with the owner in advance. The garden is enclosed, which is handy for keeping dogs secure, and the description gives a gentle heads-up that the private swim spa may attract some uninvited canine interest.
