The lounge here holds a wood burner, a PlayStation and a Nintendo Wii, which between them account for most of an evening. Honeysuckle Cottage takes six across three bedrooms at Southrepps in north Norfolk, dog friendly, two bathrooms, one dog on the booking and fenced ground out the back.

You come into a hallway and the ground floor runs on from it in order: the lounge, then the dining table seating all six, then the kitchen. A shower room with a WC completes that floor. Above it the king sits at one end, the twin at the other and the double next to that, with the bathroom among them, so a house for six does not put everybody through one door in the morning, and one dog downstairs hears all of it happen.

The garden is behind, a good size, enclosed, and it holds a table and chairs. One dog comes with the house and the owners ask that it not be a puppy. The burner is stacked for the first night, so nobody goes out for logs before they have unpacked, and one dog gets the floor in front of it for as long as anybody keeps feeding it.

The village has a pub and a few shops in it, and the country round about is lanes and field edges with the sea 3 miles off. Norwich lies the other way, a city with a Norman castle on a mound in the middle and a cathedral under it, and it makes the day out for a week that does not want another beach. One dog gets lanes as the default and a change of scene when somebody asks for one.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Honeysuckle Cottage - Southrepps dog friendly?

Yes, Honeysuckle Cottage welcomes one dog. The enclosed back garden gives your dog a safe space to roam, and inside there's a wood burner to settle in front of on cooler evenings.

  • Are dogs allowed at Honeysuckle Cottage - Southrepps year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the owners directly to confirm availability for your travel dates. What we do know is that the cottage is set up with dogs in mind year round, with a fenced garden and a wood burner stacked ready for the first night.

  • What should I know before visiting Honeysuckle Cottage - Southrepps with my dog?

The owners allow one dog on the booking and ask that it isn't a puppy, so it's worth bearing that in mind when you enquire. Dogs are kept to the ground floor, which works out well given the layout — there's a hallway, lounge, dining area and kitchen down there, plus a shower room, so your dog has plenty of company without having the run of the whole house.
