Two dogs are welcome at this well-presented, dog friendly house for four, and between the beach and the trail they will never be short of a morning outing.
An attractive hall with ample shoe storage and coat-hanging space gives a warm welcome, and the light and airy lounge and diner, comfortably furnished and with a Smart TV, is the natural place to unwind after a busy day exploring. The spacious kitchen is well equipped for the whole party, and the utility room doubles as a games room, with seating and table football and a door to the front garden. Back from the sand, the dogs flop down wherever the conversation happens to be.
An open tread staircase leads to the first floor, where a king-size room has glimpses of the estuary, a super-king zip-and-link makes the second, and the bathroom completes the floor. From the lounge you step out to a lawn, a furnished patio and a charcoal BBQ, and supper outside comes with two dogs pottering on the grass.
The Tarka Trail can be joined from either end of the village, with lovely riverside views for walkers, cyclists and dogs alike. In season a passenger ferry crosses to Appledore, a fishing village with a maze of lanes, brightly painted cottages and a quayside; Westward Ho!, 5 miles away, has a long sweep of sand and great surfing, and from Bideford, a market town of shops and restaurants, HMS Oldenburg sails for Lundy.
