Worth Matravers is a village with a duck pond, a pretty little church and dazzling views of the downs, and Idle Hours sits on a quiet no through lane there, on a path that leads to the sea. This generous dog friendly house sleeps eight on a single level, with wide views of the countryside and glimpses of the sea, and it welcomes two dogs.

The house is built around one open plan room. Tri-fold doors bring the outside in, and the kitchen, dining and sitting areas run together, with oak worktops, a breakfast bar and a log burner. The hall has storage for coats and boots, which earns its keep after a morning on the coast with two dogs. The conservatory adds yet more light and is a wonderful place to read a book while the dogs doze.

Both doubles are en suite, and the two twins have beautiful views and a separate bathroom with a shower.
