Everything in Seahouses is a few hundred metres from everything else, and Jess's Hideaway sits in the middle of that. It is a dog friendly ground floor apartment for four with two dogs allowed, no stairs in it anywhere, and an enclosed garden behind. The bunk room has French doors of its own, so the way out to that garden runs through a bedroom.
The living space is one bright room, a breakfast bar off the kitchen and an electric fire made to look like a wood burner across from it. The bath in the bathroom is a corner one, and a dog fits into it a good deal better than a person does. Next along is the king, then the bunk room, a double with a single over it.
Four people, two dogs, one bathroom and one floor. It is a family booking: children in the bunks, adults in the king, and dogs that never negotiate a step all week. There is room outside for one car, which suits a household that arrived in one. In the evening the decking is raised and covered with the chimenea on it, so the dogs stay out on the boards while the food happens indoors.
North out of the village the sand begins beneath St Aidan's dunes, a low line of marram and sea grass with the beach below it, and it keeps going. Walk far enough and Bamburgh castle comes up out of the end of it, standing on its rock above the same run of sand. Dogs have the run of that sand the whole year, and the way back is the same beach with the castle behind you.
