Mary's Crag View Cottage looks out across open countryside to the sea at Budle Bay, and it has been lovingly renovated into a luxurious, single storey dog friendly cottage for six amid the protected AONB landscape of this coast. Two dogs are welcome, there are two fully enclosed gardens for them, freshly re-fenced, and the sandy beach at Bamburgh is a five minute drive away.
The open plan living space is generous and inviting, with large sliding doors from the lounge out to one of the gardens and its patio, so indoors and outdoors flow together with the dogs at home in both. Light the wood burner and settle in for a movie, or take a glass of wine outside for some stargazing under the famous dark skies. The dining area seats six, beside a modern kitchen.
The master is a double with sliding doors onto the decking and an en suite with a walk in shower. The second double also opens to the decking and shares a Jack and Jill shower room with the third bedroom, which has a three quarter double and a pull out bed. Outside, the two enclosed gardens have plenty of seating and there is a Kadai cast iron fire pit that doubles as a pizza oven, so the day can close round it with the dogs settled at your feet.
Bamburgh, home to its castle and the Grace Darling Museum, is close by, and Budle Bay and its sandy beaches are on the doorstep for walks with the dogs. Boats run to the Farne Islands, Holy Island is within reach, Alnwick and its castle and gardens are a short drive, and Berwick upon Tweed and the Cheviot Hills wait for further days out.
