Netty's Cottage

Dersingham, Norfolk

A three bedroom bungalow for six at Dersingham in Norfolk, with a large enclosed garden, doors that fold back onto the decking and two dogs welcome.

Book now

One side of the lounge folds away. Bi-folding doors run along it and open the room onto the decking, so on a decent day the sitting room and the enclosed garden stop being two places and two dogs stop having to choose. Six across three bedrooms and not a stair among them: Netty's Cottage runs level at Dersingham in Norfolk, a dog friendly bungalow with two dogs allowed.

Everything is on that one floor, which is the whole plan and not a concession, so an older dog never meets a step between its bed and the grass. You come into an entrance hall with a galley kitchen off it, well enough equipped to see a week out, and the lounge and diner beyond that with an L-shaped sofa and a fireplace. There is underfloor heating throughout, and a warm floor is a thing a dog will find on the first evening and keep.

The garden is large and enclosed, lawn and decking with furniture and a barbecue, and a private hot tub under a louvred pergola stands inside the same fence rather than beyond it. Of the three bedrooms the king keeps an en-suite, and there is a family bathroom for the double and the twin, all of them opening on the same corridor two dogs will patrol.

Wild Ken Hill opens just up the road, a farm that gave a large part of itself back to scrub, beaver and grazing animals and then turned up on Winterwatch, and it is open to the public on foot. Two dogs get rewilded ground on one side of the village and the wide sand at Snettisham a few minutes the other way.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Netty's Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Netty's Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. It's a single-storey bungalow with a large enclosed garden, so dogs can move freely between the lounge and the outside — particularly when the bi-folding doors are open onto the decking.

  • Are dogs allowed at Netty's Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth checking directly with the owner to confirm availability for your dates. The underfloor heating and enclosed garden make it a practical choice whatever the time of year.

  • What should I know before visiting Netty's Cottage with my dog?

The two-dog limit is worth bearing in mind if you're travelling with a bigger pack. The bungalow layout is a genuine plus for older or less mobile dogs — there are no stairs anywhere between the entrance and the garden. Nearby, Wild Ken Hill's rewilded land is open to walkers, and Snettisham beach is just a few minutes away.
