Lovely walks start from the front door of North Lodge, a spacious cottage in Aberdeenshire a short drive from the town of Turriff. It sleeps five, welcomes one dog, and makes a peaceful, dog friendly retreat for families or couples, with an abundance of wildlife to spot and walking, cycling and hiking trails all around.

Off the spacious entrance hall is the well equipped kitchen, where friends can perch at the breakfast bar and chat while the cooking happens. The comfy lounge diner beyond has a wood burner, the first bag of logs included, and a table looking out over the garden, so the dog can watch the world outside before settling by the stove for the evening. French doors lead into a conservatory with seating, and from there patio doors open to the rear enclosed garden. A king-size zip-and-link room off the hall has countryside views, while upstairs another king-size zip-and-link sits alongside a single room with an extra pull out bed, with a bathroom on each floor.

The garden has a BBQ with an outdoor table and chairs, and walking trails lead away from the front garden for a stroll with the dog after supper. A private tour of the castle can also be arranged with the owner, subject to availability.

Bennachie, with its several peaks and excellent footpaths, is close by for a day's walking with the dog, and the River Deveron is known for its salmon and trout fishing. The Aberdeenshire coastal trail has dramatic clifftops and enchanting coves, boat trips go out to spot dolphins, and the Malt Whisky Trail and the Cairngorms National Park are within reach.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is North Lodge - Turriff dog friendly?

Yes, North Lodge welcomes one dog. The conservatory opens directly onto an enclosed rear garden via patio doors, so your dog can get from sofa to grass without any fuss, and walking trails start from the gate itself.

  • Are dogs allowed at North Lodge - Turriff year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. Given the setup — enclosed garden, farm surroundings, and trails from the door — it's designed with dogs genuinely in mind.

  • What should I know before visiting North Lodge - Turriff with my dog?

North Lodge sits on a working farm, so there will be livestock around — a dog that's steady around animals will be much more comfortable here and will get more from the surrounding countryside. Only one dog is accepted per stay, and the farmland setting means leads and good recall matter when you head out beyond the garden.
