Off Piste

Sedgeford, Norfolk

A three bedroom cottage for five at Sedgeford in Norfolk, fenced at the back and sides with a low wall at the front, a wood burner, a ground floor bathroom and two dogs welcome.

The wall along the front of this garden is sandstone and it is a low one. Fence runs round the back and the sides, so the ground is closed on three sides, and the owners flag the fourth themselves, twice. Off Piste sleeps five at Sedgeford in north west Norfolk, dog friendly, three bedrooms, two dogs.

Dogs are not permitted upstairs here and the owners state it plainly. The stairs are steep Norfolk winders reached through the snug, so rule and building agree. Everything a dog needs is on the ground floor in any case: the kitchen you come into by the side door, the snug with its wood burner and first basket of logs, the lounge past that, and a Victorian bathroom whose bath stands away from the wall with a shower cubicle next to it.

Above are the double, the twin and the single, the last two looking over rooftops to open country. Outside comes in two parts. A lawn and terrace run along the side of the cottage with a family picnic table and a parasol on them, and a smaller seat sits at the front behind the low wall. Two dogs get the side, which is the fenced part, and the front is where the people take a drink.

This cottage once belonged to the Sandringham Estate, and the house itself is seven miles off across the woods and parkland that go with it. Sedgeford is a quiet carrstone village a few miles back from the beaches, and the lanes leaving it run through arable land in every direction. Two dogs get field edge and lane straight from the door, and sand on the days somebody drives.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Off Piste dog friendly?

Yes, Off Piste welcomes up to two dogs. The fenced side garden is theirs to use freely, and field edges and lanes are accessible straight from the door for walks, with beaches reachable by a short drive.

  • Are dogs allowed at Off Piste year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth checking directly with the owners if you're planning a trip at a particular time of year.

  • What should I know before visiting Off Piste with my dog?

Dogs are not permitted upstairs — the bedrooms are off limits, and the owners are clear about this. Everything your dog needs is on the ground floor though, including the kitchen, the snug with its wood burner, and the lounge. The side garden is fenced and designated for dogs, while the front seating area behind the low sandstone wall is more of a people space.
