Orchard Farmhouse

Hoveton, Norfolk

A five bedroom farmhouse for ten on a private estate at Hoveton in Norfolk, with a fully enclosed lawn and wooded area, two lounges and four dogs welcome.

There are trees inside the fence here. The enclosed ground at one side of this house is lawn and woodland together, so four dogs get cover, undergrowth and something to investigate rather than a rectangle of grass they will have finished with by Tuesday. Orchard Farmhouse quarters ten across five bedrooms on a private estate at Hoveton in Norfolk, dog friendly, with four dogs on the booking.

The other side of the house is an orchard, and that one is open ground rather than enclosed, so the lead goes back on for it. Everything a dog does off the lead happens on the fenced side. Inside, the hall opens to two separate lounges, and only one of them has the wood burner, which turns an ordinary evening into an actual choice between a warm room and a quiet one.

The kitchen, diner and snug run together as the room the party lives in, a centre island at its heart and a table that seats all ten without anybody perching. A utility off it keeps the washing machine out of the way of the cooking, and the main bathroom upstairs has sensor lighting, which is the small hours solved for anybody feeling their way past a sleeping dog. Five bedrooms sit off one landing, the first with an en-suite, the last a bunk room adults can use. A small barn takes the bicycles and holds a pool table.

Hoveton stands on the River Bure where the Norfolk Broads begin, and the walking here is the flat sort, reed and water and a horizon a long way off. Mousehold Heath rises six miles south with a proper run on it. Four dogs get level ground in every direction.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Orchard Farmhouse dog friendly?

Yes, Orchard Farmhouse welcomes up to four dogs on a booking. The property has a fully enclosed lawn and wooded area on one side of the house where dogs can run off the lead, giving them trees, undergrowth and space to explore rather than just an open patch of grass.

  • Are dogs allowed at Orchard Farmhouse year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your travel dates. As a large private estate farmhouse, it's designed to accommodate groups with dogs as a core part of what it offers.

  • What should I know before visiting Orchard Farmhouse with my dog?

The enclosed lawn and woodland area is where all off-lead time happens — the orchard on the other side of the house is open ground, so leads go back on there. The surrounding area around Hoveton is flat Broads walking with reed and water in every direction, and Mousehold Heath is around six miles south if you're after something with a bit more of a run to it.
