Four dogs are welcome at Rhydins Fach, a spacious barn conversion in the Carmarthenshire countryside on the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog, the Brecon Beacons. It is a stylish, dog friendly home for up to eight, and with miles of Welsh countryside on the doorstep and Crychan Forest a short stroll away, the walking starts the moment the car is parked.

The house can be taken as one large space or split into two self contained halves, each sleeping four. Downstairs, the open living, cooking and dining spaces have TVs and warming open fires, logs supplied for the first evening, and before the kettle has boiled the dogs have taken the hearth. There are two fully equipped kitchens, large dining areas with spectacular countryside views, and two utility rooms. Upstairs, each side has a double room and a twin.

The enclosed private garden has a lawn, a gravel area, seating and a BBQ, with uninterrupted countryside views. Then comes the highlight, a luxurious hot tub under famously dark skies, best saved for when the dogs have settled for the night. The surrounding fields hold livestock, so the owner asks that dogs are kept under control at all times. For a bigger gathering, it can be booked with Rhydins Fawr to sleep twenty one.

Crychan Forest offers picnic spots and bridleways, with paths the dogs can follow on foot or alongside a bike, and there are red kites to spot. Llanwrtyd Wells, 5 miles away, hosts the Man Versus Horse race and bog snorkelling, and the Elan Valley Trails and the Tywi Valley are within 30 miles.

We research every description carefully and believe it to be accurate, but details can change. Please confirm anything important, especially dog rules, with the booking agent or property owner before you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Rhydins Fach dog friendly?

Yes, Rhydins Fach welcomes up to four dogs. The property has an enclosed garden, which makes life considerably easier, and the surrounding lanes carry so little traffic that you can walk out of the door with the whole pack without needing to plan a route.

  • Are dogs allowed at Rhydins Fach year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, but nothing in the property details suggests otherwise. It's always worth confirming directly with the owner when you book, particularly if you're travelling outside of peak season.

  • What should I know before visiting Rhydins Fach with my dog?

The house can sleep four dogs comfortably, and one of its most practical features is that it divides into two self-contained halves — useful if you need to keep dogs separate at any point. There are two utility rooms with washing machines, handy for muddy kit and towels after a day out in the Tywi valley, and two open fires to settle in front of when you're back.
