Crychan Forest is only a few minutes' walk from Rhydins Fawr, its picnic sites, bridleways and trails ready for three dogs to explore. This spacious, dog friendly barn sleeps thirteen and is set in 60 acres of countryside on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, with a private hot tub and wide views across the Carmarthenshire landscape.

It has been creatively furnished, full of interesting features and thoughtful little extras. To the right of the entrance hall is one generous open plan room, where a wood burner draws everyone in at night, patio doors frame outstanding countryside views from the table, and an electric range oven takes care of feeding the party. After the trails, the three dogs claim the warmth of the fire while supper is cooking.

There are six bedrooms in all: a triple on the ground floor with an accessible en suite wet room, and five more on the first floor, including two en suite doubles, with a family bathroom besides. Outside, the enclosed garden pairs lawn and patio with uninterrupted views, garden furniture, a BBQ and a variety of outdoor games. There is livestock in the surrounding fields, so dogs must be kept under control throughout the stay. Larger groups can book the barn together with Rhydins Fach Isaf and Rhydins Fach Uchaf, sleeping twenty-one.

Red kites are among the wildlife here, and photographers will love the landscape. The Tywi Valley, Cwm Rhaeadr, the Elan Valley trails and the mountain biking at Coed Trallwm are a short drive, and Llanwrtyd Wells holds the Man Versus Horse race and even bog snorkelling. However the day is spent, three dogs come back ready for the fire.

We research every description carefully and believe it to be accurate, but details can change. Please confirm anything important, especially dog rules, with the booking agent or property owner before you book.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Rhydins Fawr dog friendly?

Yes — Rhydins Fawr welcomes up to three dogs. The house has an enclosed garden with a lawn and patio, and Crychan Forest is just a few minutes on foot from the door, so your dogs can be out exploring without anyone needing to get in the car first.

  • Are dogs allowed at Rhydins Fawr year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and with sixty acres of grounds and a forest on the doorstep, it's set up well for dog-friendly visits whatever the time of year. We'd always recommend confirming directly with the property if you're planning a trip in a particular season.

  • What should I know before visiting Rhydins Fawr with my dog?

The property accepts a maximum of three dogs, so it's worth confirming your numbers when you book. There's a storage cupboard near the entrance built for coats and boots, which is handy after a muddy day in Crychan Forest, and the enclosed garden means dogs have a safe outdoor space to wind down in. The surrounding area offers bridleways and trails through the forest, and red kites are a regular fixture overhead — worth bearing in mind if your dogs are easily distracted by the skies.
