You come in from the garden. The front of Riley's Retreat is not the side anybody uses: the way in runs through the rear garden and a conservatory, so the sand comes off on a tiled floor under glass, which is as dog friendly as a front door gets. South, the coast path leaves past the golf course for Beadnell, and a dog has sand, dune and headland most of the way.
