Those views carry through the house. The lounge and diner is a great place for entertaining, with comfy seating and the Smart TV, and the kitchen enjoys incredible views of its own. Along the hall is the master king-size bedroom, looking out over the river, then a twin bedroom and a spacious bathroom, with a handy utility room for the washing. After a morning on the dunes, the dog finds its spot in the lounge while the kettle goes on.
Outside there are two places to be. At the front a terrace with seating has wonderful views, and in the evenings it is where the sunsets are watched. To the rear is a lawned garden, now enclosed, with a summer house, and that is the dog's own patch of grass.
The estuary beach is popular with bathers and sand castle makers, and the walk across the dunes and footpaths with the dog starts minutes from the house. The Tarka Trail follows the former railway line with lovely riverside views, and Appledore, an old fishing village with good pubs and restaurants, is a seasonal ferry ride over the water. Tapeley Park and National Trust Arlington Court are close by too.
