Book now

Silver Silo has been made from two farm silos at Cwmhir Court near Clyro, a contemporary home of smooth curved walls and subtle lighting with views across to the Hay Bluff. Five guests and one dog fit in this dog friendly conversion, and a bowl and blanket are set out for the dog before you arrive.

An enclosed garden surrounds the silo, and the views come first. Inside, the entrance hall has a high ceiling and natural light, with a utility and WC alongside. To the right is the lounge, with its views, a library of books and a TV, and to the left the kitchen and diner, fitted to the curve of the building, with a table for five at the window. Supper there comes with the dog curled up on its blanket nearby.

A wooden staircase curves up to a landing that looks back down into the lounge. One first floor double has a balcony and its own shower room, the other double has wonderful views and shares a shower room with the single, reached by a curved wooden stair to the top floor. The enclosed garden has a charcoal BBQ, with chairs and a table, and well waymarked footpaths leave from the grounds for the dog's first walk.

Hay-on-Wye is an easy walk away, a vibrant market town of quirky shops, cafes, a castle, an independent cinema and its famous book festival, with a farmers market on Thursdays. The Warren, the local beach on the riverbank, is there for paddling and wild swimming, and both Offa's Dyke and the Wye Valley Walk can be reached for a bigger day with the dog.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Silver Silo dog friendly?

Yes, Silver Silo welcomes one dog. A bowl and a blanket are waiting when you arrive, and the enclosed garden outside gives your dog space to roam and patrol freely.

  • Are dogs allowed at Silver Silo year round?

Nothing in the listing suggests any seasonal restrictions, and nearby the River Wye at the Warren — a shingle and grass river beach on the edge of Hay — is described as somewhere dogs go in whatever the month, so this feels like a genuinely year-round base.

  • What should I know before visiting Silver Silo with my dog?

Silver Silo accommodates one dog, and the house is set up with that in mind: there's an enclosed garden for safe outdoor time and a bowl and blanket provided on arrival. The dog is expected to stay downstairs on the flat rather than heading up the curved staircase to the bedrooms. You're well placed for walks — Hay is reachable on foot in less time than it takes to park there, and the River Wye is close by for water-loving dogs.
