As you drive through the grounds, the top of Sunken Treasure is all you glimpse at first: a quirky shepherd's hut with all mod cons, set in its own sunken garden in the Conwy Valley. Two people and two dogs share this romantic, dog friendly hideaway, 1 mile from the heart of Conwy.

You walk into the enclosed garden and up to the hut, where a bright hallway leads to the kitchen, with a breakfast bar for a meal for two while you plan the day, and on round to a stylish shower room. The dogs soon find their place in the studio living area, which has somewhere comfy to sit and a Smart TV, and it is all very snug of an evening. The bespoke double bed is designed for a good night's sleep, with superb views to wake up to.

The enclosed garden is the heart of it: a private deck for sundowners, your own hot tub, and the sunken garden with a charcoal BBQ, table and chairs for eating outdoors, the dogs close by. In the grounds there is a shared games room with table tennis and a wood burner, and a shared sauna, and the lovely grounds have local wildlife and panoramic views to take in. Keen cyclists and canoeists have a bicycle and boat store.

Conwy itself, a World Heritage Site, offers its 13th century castle, independent shops, galleries, restaurants and a fishing harbour, along with Plas Mawr and the Welsh Food Centre. Snowdonia National Park is nearby, with plenty of footpaths and cycle routes for exploring with the dogs, and Bodnant Gardens, Surf Snowdonia, Llechwedd Slate Caverns, the RSPB reserve, Llandudno and Betws-y-Coed are all within reach.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Sunken Treasure dog friendly?

Yes, Sunken Treasure welcomes up to two dogs. The enclosed sunken garden is a real bonus for dog owners — because the boundary sits above you rather than beside you, it feels genuinely secure without feeling hemmed in.

  • Are dogs allowed at Sunken Treasure year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the host directly to confirm availability for your dates. Given the setup — an enclosed garden, a private deck and a hut sized for two people and two dogs — it reads as a place that works well for dogs in any season.

  • What should I know before visiting Sunken Treasure with my dog?

The hut is designed around two dogs and two people, so if you're travelling with more than two dogs you'd need to check with the host before booking. Beyond that, Conwy itself is walkable on a lead, and Snowdonia starts immediately south for off-lead hill days — so there's plenty to keep dogs happy once you're there.
