Rothbury, Northumberland
A three bedroom townhouse for five just over the bridge from Rothbury, with two enclosed patios, a summer house and a games room downstairs, one dog welcome.
Sycamore Corner stands just over the bridge from the middle of Rothbury, dog friendly, three bedrooms, five people, one dog. Its garden at the back is enclosed across two linked patios, with a summer house through a gate beyond them. The bedrooms are downstairs and the living is up.
On the entrance floor a hall takes the boots, then lounge and dining sit round a wood burner, with a small separate seating corner facing the hills. The kitchen and a WC are on the same level and the garage doubles as the utility. Below are the three bedrooms and a games room holding a pool table, a dartboard and a PlayStation. The super king has French doors straight onto the patio, so the dog goes out at whatever hour it decides on.
Downstairs, an argument has developed around the pool table. It is ten at night. The dog has come up to the empty floor to lie in front of the burner where nobody is, which everyone agrees is the correct decision. Out on the patio the swing seat is empty and the summer house door has been left open again. Somebody is about to be sent to close it.
The Coquet runs under the bridge at the end of the road and through the town, a path along it, picnic tables and a playground on the near bank. Downstream it enters a wooded gorge and comes out at Brinkburn, where an Augustinian priory church stands alone in a bend of the river with nothing round it but trees, roofless for three hundred years and then put back. Dogs are on the riverside path the whole way, and it stays level.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is Sycamore Corner dog friendly?
Yes, Sycamore Corner welcomes one dog. The property has an enclosed garden across two linked patios at the back, and the super king bedroom has French doors that open directly onto the patio — handy for letting your dog out whenever they need it.
Are dogs allowed at Sycamore Corner year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions, so it's worth checking directly with the owner when you book. What we can say is that the setup — enclosed outdoor space, a ground-level bedroom with patio access — suits dogs well at any time of year.
What should I know before visiting Sycamore Corner with my dog?
The property accepts one dog, so it's not suited to multi-dog households. The enclosed patios give your dog a secure outdoor space, and the River Coquet path starts just over the bridge at the end of the road — dogs are welcome along it the whole way to Brinkburn Priory, and it stays level throughout.
