Book now

Tanglewood sits in Freshwater, within walking distance of Colwell Bay, one of the island's prettiest beaches, and three dogs are welcome. Sleeping six, it is a dog friendly bungalow on the tranquil western side of the Isle of Wight, with an enclosed lawned garden at the back that enjoys a southerly aspect.

An inviting entrance porch opens into an open-plan lounge/diner, with a Smart TV to relax in front of and ample seating at the dining table for everybody. The kitchen is ready for cooking up a storm, right down to the washer that sees to the beach towels the dogs have been rolling on. The main double bedroom, set off the lounge, has an en-suite wet room all to itself. The super king-size zip and link, which has its own TV, sits next to the twin room, the two sharing a shower room.

The conservatory is a lovely space to retreat to, and it opens onto the pretty rear garden. The dogs head out to the lawn, somebody carries lunch to the decking, where the outdoor seating makes the most of the sun, and the afternoon drifts on from there. Bikes and paddleboards have their own secure storage.

Colwell Bay is close enough to walk to, so the first outing with the dogs needs no car at all. A day out exploring Freshwater Bay and The Needles is a must on this side of the island, and a short drive across it brings the resorts of Shanklin and Ventnor, with a wonderful choice of places to eat along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Tanglewood dog friendly?

Yes, Tanglewood welcomes up to three dogs. It's a single-storey bungalow, so there are no stairs for dogs to navigate, and the enclosed south-facing lawn is accessible straight from the conservatory — good for letting them out without any fuss.

  • Are dogs allowed at Tanglewood year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing about the property suggests otherwise. If you want to be certain about your exact dates, it's worth checking directly with the owners when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Tanglewood with my dog?

Up to three dogs are welcome, and the whole bungalow is on one level with a wet room — handy after a beach walk, and there's plenty of need for one given that Colwell Bay is just 0.2 miles away. The enclosed lawn gives dogs somewhere safe to run, and the beach at the bottom of the road means proper off-the-lead time is never far.
