The Alpaca Retreat is a romantic, hand crafted shepherd hut for two, overlooking a pond and tucked away in three acres of lovely gardens with countryside views. Two dogs are welcome at this dog friendly retreat for a couple, and the resident alpacas that give it its name live in the adjoining field. A gentle, unfenced stream borders the land.

Step up into the hut and the kitchen, dining and sleeping areas share one open plan space. The double bed is privately tucked away at one end, with curtains to pull across and a TV to watch, and a table and chairs wait for the morning coffee. There is an induction hob, oven and fridge, and a shower room with WC. After a day exploring, the two dogs settle by the wood burner as everyone snuggles up.

Open the French doors and the spacious private decking takes over, with an outdoor kitchen of barbecue, steak searing station and beer and wine fridge, a table and chairs, and views over the water. There is a pizza oven, a BBQ hut, a garden with a fire pit, croquet on the lawn and a private inflatable hot tub. The dogs keep the cook company on the decking while supper sizzles.

Lovely walks lead along country lanes and to the village pub, which serves good food, so the dogs can set off from the hut itself. Bicester Village is a short drive, and the Cotswolds, Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Waddesdon Manor, Warwick Castle, Silverstone and Henley all make fine days out, with London a day trip away on the train.
