A stream runs through the front garden. It is a very small one, it brings birds and rabbits and squirrels up to the window, and it is also why the fenced ground here is round the back. The Beest is a bungalow for six at Beeston Regis on the north Norfolk coast, dog friendly, three bedrooms on one floor and two dogs welcome.

Everything opens off a single hallway. The lounge takes the front with the window over that stream and seating for all six, then the king, the twin with a cot bed in it and the double, sharing a shower room that keeps its WC in a room of its own. The kitchen is at the back and the table is in the conservatory past it. Two dogs cover the entire house without going up anything.

The enclosed garden behind the kitchen is the working one: a patio, a brick barbecue built in place, a herb garden, the furniture, and a shed that takes the bikes and the boards away at night. That is the garden two dogs are let into, and where the evening finishes. The front, with the stream and the picnic bench in it, is for sitting.

The hill behind the village is Beeston Bump, a steep round one the ice left standing, with the coast path over the top of it and a long stretch of this coastline in view. Below, the beach runs both ways under low cliffs, sand at low water, and this is the surfing end of Norfolk, which is what the shed is for. Two dogs get a hill, a cliff top and a tideline inside one walk of the door.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is The Beest dog friendly?

Yes, The Beest welcomes up to two dogs. It's a single-storey bungalow, so your dogs can roam the whole house without tackling any stairs, and there's an enclosed garden at the back where they can be let out safely.

  • Are dogs allowed at The Beest year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend confirming directly with the owner when you book to make sure the dates you have in mind work for them.

  • What should I know before visiting The Beest with my dog?

The back garden is fully enclosed and is where dogs are let out — it has a patio, barbecue and furniture, and a shed for storing bikes and boards. The front garden has a stream running through it and is unfenced, so that's one to bear in mind if your dogs are prone to wandering. On the plus side, Beeston Bump is right behind the village with the coast path over the top, and the beach runs along the base of the cliffs below — a hill, a cliff top and a tideline all within walking distance of the door.
