In the lovely grounds of Ellingham Hall, The Butter Churn is a beautifully presented, dog friendly home for a family of four, with a wood burner for cosy nights in and pleasant woodland nearby for walks. Two dogs are welcome, and the expansive lawned garden runs to three sides of the cottage, fully enclosed by a stone wall and fencing.
Inside, wooden floors run throughout. The lounge has two comfortable sofas in front of the wood burner, with logs provided, and a Smart TV for a favourite film, while the dogs doze off by the fire. The dining table sits next to the French doors with lovely views of the garden, and through an archway the kitchen has a range style electric oven with gas hob and a Nespresso coffee machine.
Those French doors open onto a good sized terrace with table and chairs, and beyond it the lawn is where dogs and little ones let off steam while the grown ups linger over an al fresco meal. Upstairs, both bedrooms look over the lawned garden, a king-size with a Smart TV and a pretty twin, and the family bathroom is finished in porcelain tiles, with a shower and a separate full length bath. Games, puzzles and children's books are there for evenings in.
Beadnell Bay is the nearest of many golden sandy beaches, a short drive away, with dunes to relax in and a walk with the dogs to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle. Bamburgh and Seahouses sit along the same much loved stretch of coast, boats run to Holy Island and the Farne Islands, and at Alnwick Castle and gardens, 10 miles away, you can learn to fly a broomstick. Golfers have courses at Bamburgh, Seahouses and Dunstanburgh.
