The Castle is a local landmark in Brean, appropriately named: a unique beach house of hand carved stone features with the look of a Mediterranean castle, and its very own private access onto the sand at the bottom of the garden. For eight guests and two dogs this is a fabulous dog friendly holiday home, since Brean beach and many others in the area welcome dogs all year round.

Private gates open onto the house, fully refurbished in 2018, and the entrance hall takes the coats and shoes. A double bedroom with views over the garden and out to sea is on the left, with a bunk room next door, and two king bedrooms with en suite shower rooms lie further on. The light and airy lounge looks out to Brean Down and the Bleadon Hills, with a Smart TV and family games, and it is where the dogs doze after a long day upon the sand.

At the back, the open plan kitchen and diner seats eight, and off it are the contemporary main bathroom, with its large freestanding bath, and the utility. Double French doors lead from the kitchen onto decking with seating for eight, and the fully enclosed garden beyond has plenty of lawn for games, a climbing frame for the children and the BBQ lodge at the far end. Supper cooks in the lodge while the dogs watch from the lawn, the Bristol Channel laid out in front.

The garden's own private access leads to the beach below, miles of sand where dogs are welcome all year round, so the first walk of every day starts at the end of the lawn. Popular attractions nearby include Glastonbury Tor, Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge.
