1 / 24The Cote at Kinsham Estate
Kinsham, Herefordshire
A one bedroom barn conversion for two at Kinsham near Presteigne, with enclosed gardens to the rear, everything on one level and two dogs welcome.
There are two buildings on this yard and this is deliberately the small one. The other sleeps six; The Cote sleeps two, with the bedroom and the bathroom both on the ground floor and enclosed gardens behind. It is a dog friendly barn on a working farm at Kinsham, close to the Welsh border, and two dogs are allowed. The small building on a big yard is usually the better one to be in with animals, because everything in it is within reach of everything else.
That matters more than the square footage. A couple with two dogs in a two person barn are never more than a room away from either of them, the patio outside carries a table and looks straight out at farmland, and waymarked footpaths leave from the front of the property rather than from somewhere you drive to.
Book it if you have worked out that you do not need six bedrooms. The farm goes on around you, there is nothing to organise, and the border country here is emptier than the Welsh side of it despite being no further from anywhere. Two dogs get lanes with grass down the middle.
Lingen, 3 miles north, keeps a great motte and bailey earthwork behind the church, grassed over and climbable, from the years when this was the most fought over line in Britain. Stapleton Castle stands on its own hill the other side of Presteigne, a ruin in a field with the whole of the border laid out from beneath it. Two dogs get two earthworks and the lanes between them.

Is The Cote at Kinsham Estate dog friendly?
Yes, The Cote is dog friendly and welcomes up to two dogs. It sits on a working farm near the Welsh border, with enclosed gardens to the rear and waymarked footpaths leaving directly from the property — no car journey required to get started.
Are dogs allowed at The Cote at Kinsham Estate year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your travel dates. What is clear is that the setup — enclosed gardens, ground floor throughout, and farm lanes on the doorstep — is designed with dogs genuinely in mind.
What should I know before visiting The Cote at Kinsham Estate with my dog?
You're allowed to bring two dogs, and the barn is a compact, single-storey space, which means your dogs are never far from you — the listing actually makes a point of this as a feature rather than a limitation. The enclosed garden gives them safe outdoor space, and the surrounding lanes and footpaths, including routes to local earthworks at Lingen and Stapleton Castle, are walkable straight from the front door.
