Dedham, Essex
A charming cottage for three in the heart of Dedham in Constable Country, down a quiet no through road near the church, with an enclosed walled garden and two dogs welcome.
Two dogs are welcome at The Cottage At Dedham, and a third may be considered by prior arrangement with the owner. It is a charming dog friendly cottage in Constable Country, set down a quiet no through road close to the church in the heart of the village, with pubs, tearooms and independent shops on the doorstep.
The front door opens into a hallway with a cloakroom and the stairs. The lounge has comfortable seating, a TV with a DVD player, and a feature fireplace with traditional tiles, and French doors lead from it to the enclosed walled garden, so the dogs can go straight out from where everyone is sitting. The kitchen diner is well equipped, with an electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and a table and chairs for meals.
On the first floor there is a double bedroom and a single with an additional pull out bed, and a shower room with a double walk in shower. Board games and DVDs are ready for the evenings, with the dogs settled in the lounge after a day out. If a larger group is coming, the property next door can be booked as well, so everybody can stay side by side.
The village playing field is a 2 minute walk away, handy for a last stroll with the dogs before bed. Further afield lie the lovely villages of Long Melford and Lavenham, and the Suffolk coast is within reach, with the beaches and seaside towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh. Sutton Hoo, Framlingham, Orford Castle and Jimmy's Farm all make good days out.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is The Cottage At Dedham dog friendly?
Yes, and genuinely so — two dogs are welcome as standard, which is already generous for a cottage sleeping three. If you're travelling with a third dog, the owners are open to it if you ask in advance, which makes this one of the more accommodating small stays you'll find.
Are dogs allowed at The Cottage At Dedham year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions, and nothing in the details suggests dogs are limited to certain times of year. If you're planning an off-season trip, it's always worth confirming directly with the owners, but there's no indication this is a summer-only arrangement.
What should I know before visiting The Cottage At Dedham with my dog?
The garden is walled and fully enclosed, so you can let dogs out without worrying about them wandering. The meadow path from Dedham to Flatford along the Stour is just a field from the door — flat, waymarked and largely off-road, it's an easy and beautiful walk for dogs of any fitness level. The village playing field is two minutes away for a quick last outing at night, which is genuinely useful when you've got dogs to settle.
