1 / 24The Garden House - Broadfield
Bodenham, Herefordshire
A three bedroom estate cottage for six at Bodenham near Leominster, with an enclosed garden, a hot tub and a ground floor bedroom, two dogs welcome.
This was the gardener's cottage, which on an estate of this kind was a job that came with a house, and usually a good one. The Garden House sleeps six on the Broadfield Estate at Bodenham, five star and dog friendly, and behind its patio doors is an enclosed garden belonging to the cottage alone. Two dogs are allowed. Whoever looked after these grounds was put in the best part of them.
Inside has been finished to a standard the original gardener would not recognise. A bedroom and shower room of their own sit on the ground floor, and two kings share a second one above, so six people never queue for anything. The patio doors give straight onto the enclosed garden, which runs from paving into lawn, and a hot tub stands out there. Two dogs use that door rather more often than anybody else.
The estate does not stop for the holiday let, and that is the interesting part. Tractors go up and down the drive, stock is moved about in the next field, and two dogs spend the whole first day establishing that none of it is any of their business. By the second they have settled on the patio facing the gate, in case any of it becomes their business after all.
Queenswood, 4 miles south on Dinmore Hill, is 170 acres of country park and arboretum along a ridge, with trees brought from most of the world planted through native woodland. Bodenham Lake lies below in the Lugg valley, an old gravel working now a reserve with hides on the water. Two dogs get high ground under trees and a flat circuit of the water within minutes of one another.

Is The Garden House - Broadfield dog friendly?
Yes, The Garden House is dog friendly and welcomes up to two dogs. The cottage has its own enclosed garden accessed directly through patio doors, which makes it a practical and comfortable base for dogs as well as their owners.
Are dogs allowed at The Garden House - Broadfield year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's best to check directly with the property when booking to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the setup — an enclosed private garden and easy access to nearby walks — suits dogs in any season.
What should I know before visiting The Garden House - Broadfield with my dog?
A maximum of two dogs are allowed at the cottage. Bear in mind that The Garden House sits on a working estate, so there are tractors on the drive and livestock in neighbouring fields — most dogs take a day or so to settle into that environment. On the upside, Queenswood Country Park (170 acres, around 4 miles away) and Bodenham Lake are both close by and offer good walks for dogs.
