1 / 24The Granary at Kinsham Estate
Kinsham, Herefordshire
A three bedroom farmhouse for six at Kinsham near the Welsh border, with an enclosed garden, a garden room looking onto it and two dogs welcome.
A few fields west of here the ground stops being England. The Granary sleeps six at Kinsham, a red brick farmhouse set deep in worked farmland, dog friendly, with three bedrooms, its own enclosed garden and a garden room that does nothing but look at it. Two dogs come with it. Border country is quieter than either of the countries it separates, which is most of the argument for being in it.
The porch takes the boots and the coats before any of it gets as far as the hall, which in a house used by six people and two dogs matters more than it reads. The lounge sits off the main hall, and the garden room is the other option when somebody wants out of the conversation for an hour. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms for six, and outside, the enclosure runs round every side of it.
Mid-morning and the house has emptied itself onto the farm. The boots went on in the porch, the gate at the end of the lawn was the only one anybody had to open, and two dogs are somewhere out ahead in a field of stubble having a far better time than they would on a lead. The garden room has been left with a cup of tea going cold in it.
Wapley Hill, 2 miles north, carries an Iron Age fort with four rings of bank and ditch still legible under the trees, and a well inside the top that has never been known to fail. Kinsham Court stands below it, where Byron spent a summer in 1812 with Lady Oxford and got a good deal of writing done. Two dogs get forest track, ramparts, and a lane back that nothing uses.

Book with holidaycottages.co.ukFrequently Asked Questions
Is The Granary at Kinsham Estate dog friendly?
Yes, The Granary is fully dog friendly and welcomes up to two dogs. The property comes with an enclosed garden that wraps around every side of the house, so your dogs have safe outdoor space without you having to worry about them bolting.
Are dogs allowed at The Granary at Kinsham Estate year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and the property is set up to accommodate them as a matter of course rather than as an exception. The porch is there specifically to handle the boots, coats and general chaos that comes with dogs and a full house, which suggests year-round use very much in mind.
What should I know before visiting The Granary at Kinsham Estate with my dog?
The house takes up to two dogs, and the enclosed garden means they can be outside without needing to be on a lead the whole time. Beyond the garden gate, the surrounding farmland opens up onto fields, and Wapley Hill two miles north offers forest tracks, Iron Age ramparts and quiet lanes — good off-lead walking country by all accounts.
