The Helens

Mundesley, Norfolk

A three bedroom bungalow for six at Mundesley in Norfolk, with a conservatory over farmland, a fully enclosed garden, an en-suite wet room and two dogs welcome.

Book now

The conservatory at the back of this bungalow looks at farmland. Not water, farmland, which in a house standing this close to a Norfolk beach is a decision somebody made about which way to point the good room. The Helens faces inland at Mundesley, six sleeping in three bedrooms, dog friendly, a pair of dogs allowed and a garden the owners describe as fully enclosed.

The porch is the first thing and the owners nominate it themselves as where sandy shoes get dealt with and a dog's feet get wiped, which is a rarer sentence in a listing than it ought to be. Past it the hall gives onto a lounge whose bay windows are deep enough to fill the room with light, and the kitchen and dining space run alongside with the conservatory beyond them.

Three bedrooms, all of them at ground level. The first is a super king whose en-suite is a wet room, shower walked into rather than stepped into; the second is another super king that will come apart into twins if that is arranged at booking; the third is a twin. Nothing in the building is up a stair, and for six people plus two dogs that settles a good many small arguments before they start.

Blickling opens twelve miles inland, a Jacobean hall of red brick with parkland and lake walks laid out round it, and for a week that has had enough of the shore it makes an entire day. Nearer than that the paths and farm tracks go out in every direction from the edge of the village. Two dogs get field from the conservatory window and an estate to cross when somebody drives.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is The Helens dog friendly?

Yes, The Helens welcomes dogs — up to two are allowed. The bungalow has a fully enclosed garden, and with everything on one level, there are no stairs to navigate for you or your dogs.

  • Are dogs allowed at The Helens year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, but we'd recommend confirming directly with the owners when you book to be sure.

  • What should I know before visiting The Helens with my dog?

The owners have specifically set up the porch as a place to deal with sandy shoes and wipe muddy paws after beach trips, which is a genuinely useful detail. The garden is fully enclosed, and with farm tracks and paths heading out from the edge of the village in multiple directions, there's plenty of walking on the doorstep without needing to get in the car.
