Tregavone Barn comes with a large enclosed field set aside for guests to walk their dogs, and its south facing garden, also enclosed, has far reaching views over the countryside. This detached, dog friendly barn sits on a 120 acre farm 2 miles from Padstow, tucked away from it all yet within minutes' drive of the town and its beaches, and it sleeps five, with a welcome for one dog.
Coats and boots go in the downstairs cloakroom, and then it is through to the farmhouse kitchen, with its Rayburn, exposed beams and a good sized dining table. More formal meals, and the cream tea offered on arrival, belong in the light and airy separate dining room. The lounge is cosy yet spacious and full of character, with exposed ceiling beams and a wood burner set into an exposed brick hearth, and the dog takes up position by the hearth as soon as the fire is going.
The master double is spacious and bright, with country views and an en suite; joining it are a second double with a TV and a lovely single, which share the family bathroom. Beyond the garden, which looks across grazing fields, guests are welcome to explore the surrounding farmland, which takes in a valley with wildlife ponds, and the dog walking field is there for a game of fetch before breakfast.
Padstow has a pretty harbour, independent shops, cafes and boat trips. It also marks the end of the Camel Trail, a traffic free cycle and footpath that follows the Camel Estuary to Wenford Bridge by way of Wadebridge and Bodmin, and a lovely long walk for the dog. Further afield are the Eden Project, Newquay's Sea Life Centre and Land's End.
