Beneath the Black Mountains, in the shadow of the ancient fort of Castell Dinas, Ty Prosser is a lovely, spacious Grade II listed barn with fantastic views from every window. There is room for eight guests and two dogs in this dog friendly barn, and from its wood fired hot tub the panorama takes in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons.

The open-plan living space gives everyone plenty of room to gather after a day out. Comfortable seating and a TV fill the lounge, warmed by a wood burner; the kitchen offers the workspace and storage for catering for a crowd; and the dining area looks out through large double doors. Two dogs back from the hills find the warmth of the wood burner before the kettle has boiled.

The ground floor has a twin and a double, the double enjoying an en-suite shower, plus a family bathroom where you can soak in the bath. A feature staircase climbs past the floating landing, with its exposed beams and private reading area, to two more bedrooms, both with Velux windows that frame incredible views first thing, and a family shower room. Outside there is a terrace and an enclosed lawn, an outside tap that earns its keep whenever the dogs come home muddy, a BBQ, garden furniture and a firepit for toasting marshmallows under the dark sky reserve.

Talgarth lies under 2 miles from the barn, and the Black Mountains Gliding Club is less than 0.5 miles away for a day in the air instead of on foot. With the majestic Black Mountains rising above the barn, there are adventures for the dogs and their people every day of the week.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Ty Prosser dog friendly?

Yes, Ty Prosser welcomes up to two dogs. The property has an enclosed lawn so dogs can be outside safely, and there's an outside tap on the wall specifically for washing muddy paws and boots before anyone comes through the front door.

  • Are dogs allowed at Ty Prosser year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth getting in touch with the owners directly to confirm availability for your dates. What is clear is that dogs are a genuine part of how the place is set up, not an afterthought.

  • What should I know before visiting Ty Prosser with my dog?

You can bring up to two dogs, and the enclosed lawn means they have somewhere to roam without you having to watch the gate. The outside tap handles the post-walk clean-up before anyone comes inside, which is a small thing that makes a real difference. If your dog has given up on stairs, two of the four bedrooms are on the ground floor along with a full bathroom, so you can all stay on the same level without any compromise.
