Two miles inland is the sensible distance to stand from this coast, which has been giving ground to the sea for centuries. Ingham has kept its church and its pub; Eccles, at the end of the lane, lost its church to the water in 1895. Vine Cottage is dog friendly here for four across two bedrooms, its lawned garden fully enclosed, two dogs welcome, the sand a short drive east.

The ground floor is a kitchen with a range style cooker and a dining table, and a lounge with a large wood burner and its first logs. The double and the twin are above, a television in each, and the bathroom between them puts the shower over the bath. A semi-detached village cottage, it does not pretend otherwise, which for two dogs means a front door onto a lane and a back door onto grass.

That lawn is the point of the outside: fenced all round, a furnished patio at one end with a charcoal barbecue, and grass enough for two dogs to go round each other at speed. The owners had a couple or a small family in mind, and the week takes its shape from the burner and the lawn: out to the sand in the morning, back to the grass, and the fire going by dark.

Down the lane, 2 miles off, Eccles-on-Sea is a long open beach with dunes, a scatter of bungalows and the old village somewhere under the water beyond. The shore runs on both ways from there, sand and sea wall the whole length, and two dogs get walked along it until somebody insists on turning round. Behind the cottage the lanes go out flat and quiet towards the Broads.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Vine Cottage - Ingham dog friendly?

Yes, Vine Cottage welcomes up to two dogs. The garden is fully enclosed with grass enough for dogs to run freely, and Eccles-on-Sea beach is just a short drive away for longer walks along the shore.

  • Are dogs allowed at Vine Cottage - Ingham year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and the cottage's setup — a wood burner, enclosed garden and nearby beach — suits a stay at any time of year. We'd recommend confirming year-round availability directly with the owner when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting Vine Cottage - Ingham with my dog?

The cottage takes a maximum of two dogs. It's a semi-detached village cottage, so the front door opens directly onto a lane, though the back door leads out to the fully enclosed lawned garden with a patio — the safe outdoor space for your dogs. Eccles-on-Sea, about two miles away, offers a long open beach with dunes and a sea wall path in both directions, and the quiet lanes behind the cottage lead out towards the Broads for alternative walks.
