Walney

Aberaeron, Ceredigion

A five star terrace for four in the middle of Aberaeron, with an enclosed garden, a private hot tub and a glass ceiling over the dining table, two dogs welcome.

Aberaeron is a Georgian town painted in colours nobody would dare use now, and Walney sits in the middle of it. This is a five star dog friendly terrace for four with a private hot tub, an enclosed garden behind and a glass ceiling above the dining table. Two dogs, and a town small enough that they walk the whole of it.

Two bedrooms, a king size and a super king that splits into a twin, each with its own bathroom. The front door opens into an open plan kitchen, lounge and diner around a central island, with patio doors onto the garden. A wood burner takes the evenings. Behind the house the enclosed garden has feature planting and lighting and a private hot tub, and two dogs can be let into it without going near the street.

The evening here has a shape to it. Come back off the beach, put two dogs into the enclosed garden, light the burner, and eat under the glass roof while it goes dark above the table. Afterwards somebody gets into the hot tub. It is a terrace rather than a house on a hill, so it suits dogs that settle rather than dogs that announce, and in exchange everything is reached on foot.

Down at the harbour the River Aeron meets the sea, and the beach is 0.3 miles from the door. Llanerchaeron, a National Trust villa and farm, sits inland up the valley. The Wales Coast Path runs through the town both ways and the shore north and south is a long string of bays. Two dogs will spend most of this week on a lead in town and off it on the sand.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Walney dog friendly?

Yes, Walney welcomes up to two dogs. The property has an enclosed garden at the rear where your dogs can be let out without going near the street, which makes it a genuinely practical base as well as a comfortable one.

  • Are dogs allowed at Walney year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting the property directly to confirm availability for your dates. What we can say is that the setup — enclosed garden, everything on foot, beach 0.3 miles away — suits a dog-friendly stay at any time of year.

  • What should I know before visiting Walney with my dog?

Walney is a terrace in the centre of town, so it suits dogs that are settled and comfortable in a busier environment rather than those who like to make a lot of noise — the listing is upfront about that. On the plus side, your dogs will have the run of an enclosed garden and a private hot tub area without needing to go near the street, and the beach is just 0.3 miles away where they can be let off the lead on the sand.
