Wellmeadows Cottage

Seahouses, Northumberland

A three bedroom cottage for six at Seahouses with a south facing enclosed garden, a conservatory and a summer house games room, three dogs welcome.

All three dogs have gone through the conservatory and out of the French doors, the route everything in this house ends up taking. Wellmeadows Cottage is dog friendly at Seahouses and takes three of them, six people across three bedrooms, with the garden behind enclosed and facing south. At the top of it, three steps up, stands a summer house with a snooker table in it.

The lounge at the front has an open fire, a real one, which is rarer now than it should be. Behind that, kitchen and dining run on into the conservatory, and that is where everybody sits, because it looks at the garden and keeps the dogs in view. Upstairs the main bedroom keeps an en suite and a balcony over the garden to fields with horses in them, a second king and a twin alongside.

Three dogs in a village cottage is unusual and it is the reason to look here. Add a games room in the garden with table football, air hockey and a dartboard, and the booking shapes itself: two families, or one with teenagers, wanting somewhere for the evening that is not the sofa. Six beds and two bathrooms. The dogs get the ground floor, the conservatory, and a garden that holds the sun.

The coast path leaves the village southward for Beadnell offering a choice the whole way, the made path along the top or the sand below when the tide allows. Most people go out on one and back along the other, and the sand is what dogs vote for. It is 2 miles or so of dune, links and low rock with no road near it, and Beadnell's harbour to turn at.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Wellmeadows Cottage dog friendly?

Yes, Wellmeadows Cottage welcomes up to three dogs. They have the run of the ground floor and conservatory, and the south-facing garden is enclosed, so they can be outside safely without you having to watch the gate.

  • Are dogs allowed at Wellmeadows Cottage year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, and nothing in the property details suggests otherwise. It's always worth confirming directly with the owner when you book, just to be sure.

  • What should I know before visiting Wellmeadows Cottage with my dog?

The cottage takes a maximum of three dogs, so if you're coming with friends or another family, it's worth coordinating numbers in advance. The enclosed garden is a real bonus for keeping dogs contained, and the conservatory is where everyone tends to gather — with a clear view out to the garden so you can keep an eye on them. For walks, the coast path from Seahouses to Beadnell runs about 2 miles along dunes, links and low rock with no road near it, and dogs can drop down to the sand when the tide allows.
