Westlands sits just feet from the Tarka Trail, with direct access onto its 39 miles of level walking and cycling along the estuaries and beaches of North Devon. Architecturally designed in the style of a beach house, this gated dog friendly home sleeps ten. Three dogs are welcome, and the trail is right there for the first walk of every morning.
A Travertine floored hall leads to a bright, triple aspect lounge with reclining seats and armchairs, and French doors open onto a south facing seating area. Across the hall, the kitchen and dining space seats all ten, with a breakfast bar and a utility and drying room beyond for coats and towels. The ground floor has underfloor heating, a welcome thing for dogs coming in from the beach.
The level gardens wrap around the house behind electric gates, with Hartman reclining armchairs, sun loungers, a herb garden and a gas BBQ. The hot tub is set in a paved area with the tiki bar and a changing room nearby, and an artificial grass lawn lies behind the bar. The dogs get a warm outdoor shower to rinse off sandy paws after the beach. Upstairs, a landing with two armchairs and a telescope looks across Braunton Burrows towards the estuary and Appledore, and the master suite has a balcony of its own.
Saunton Sands, beside the renowned links golf club, is 3 miles away and popular with families and surfers alike, while Braunton Burrows gives the dogs a lovely backdrop for seaside walks. Follow the Tarka Trail into Braunton or on to Barnstaple and its Pannier Market, or take the coast path over the headland to Baggy Point.
