1 / 17Wren's Retreat
Fotherby, Lincolnshire
A cottage for four at Fotherby on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, with a fully enclosed dog exercise paddock and six acres of grounds, welcoming three little dogs, two medium dogs or one large dog.
Wren's Retreat sits in a village on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB, with the best of both worlds from the doorstep: Wolds countryside for walking and cycling, and beautiful sandy beaches within reach. This dog friendly cottage sleeps four and welcomes three little dogs, two medium dogs or one large dog, and there is a fully enclosed dog exercise paddock that four legged guests will love.
The door opens into the lounge, kitchen and diner, where the stylish kitchen overlooks the garden. The breakfast bar seats four for a hearty brunch before a day out, and the lounge area has comfortable seating and a TV with DVD and leads out to the rear garden. Boot racks outside take the walking boots, and on request the dogs can have a pen of their own.
There are two bedrooms and a shower room. Through the back door is a garden area for relaxing, and beyond it a picnic area with benches, where meals can be eaten outside while the farm animals graze peacefully nearby. Dogs are kept on a lead in all the communal areas and gardens, and the six acres are also home to livestock, so the fully enclosed exercise paddock is the dogs' own place to stretch their legs. An alpaca experience can be booked with the owners.
The privately owned six acres are there to walk, the dogs on their leads alongside. The market town of Louth has an abundance of independent shops, cafes and pubs, and the beach at Donna Nook, famous for its seal colony, is a popular day out. Skegness, Mablethorpe and the cathedral city of Lincoln are all within easy reach.

Is Wren's Retreat dog friendly?
Yes, Wren's Retreat welcomes up to three dogs. The cottage has its own secure garden, and beyond the gate the owners' six acres open up, including a picnic field with wildflower hedges — plenty of space to let dogs stretch out without going anywhere near a car.
Are dogs allowed at Wren's Retreat year round?
The listing confirms that dogs are welcome at Wren's Retreat, though it doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions. For confirmation of availability at a particular time of year, it's worth checking directly with the owners when you book.
What should I know before visiting Wren's Retreat with my dog?
The maximum is three dogs, and the cottage is set up with that number in mind — the secure garden is your own, and the six acres behind it give dogs real room to roam. When you want more, country lanes run from the gate and Cleethorpes beach is a drive north along the coast.
