Aberdaron and Mynydd Mawr Coastal Walk

Mynydd Mawr at the very tip of the Llyn Peninsula is one of the most westerly points in Wales, a windswept National Trust headland of bracken and gorse with the holy island of Bardsey just two miles offshore. This dog friendly walk from the village of Aberdaron follows the Wales Coast Path west along the cliffs, climbs to the old Coastguard hut on the summit and returns along the inland lane.
The terrain is a mix of clifftop grass, narrow rocky coastal path and short lane sections, with one steady climb to the Coastguard hut. Most of the route is open access where dogs can be off lead, but sheep graze the headland year round and dogs must be on a lead near the cliff edges (very steep drops). The lane sections see occasional traffic in summer. Aberdaron is a fully dog friendly village with several pubs, cafes and a beach that allows dogs all year round. Parking is at the National Trust car park at Mynydd Mawr or in Aberdaron village.
