Hartlebury Common Nature Reserve Walk
Worcestershire
Hartlebury Common is the biggest lowland heath in Worcestershire, a designated SSSI of sand, gorse and silver birch just east of Stourport on Severn. It is genuinely dog friendly, with gated car parks that allow dogs to come straight off the lead once inside.
A waymarked 1.5 km Heather Trail gives a quick introduction, but most owners take in a looser 4 km tour around the perimeter using the sandy tracks and narrower paths through the heather. The sandy underfoot is a favourite for dogs that love to dig, and there is no livestock on the common itself. Free parking is at Wilden Top and a handful of smaller lay-bys on the A4025.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Hartlebury Common Nature Reserve Walk dog friendly?
Hartlebury Common scores 9 out of 10 for dog friendliness on Wildpack Collective, and it genuinely earns it. As Worcestershire's largest lowland heath, it offers wide open sandy tracks, heather paths and gorse scrub that dogs absolutely love to explore. There's no livestock on the common itself, which makes the whole visit that much more relaxed.
Can dogs be off lead at Hartlebury Common Nature Reserve Walk?
Yes, and it's brilliantly set up for it. The car parks at Hartlebury Common are gated, meaning you can let your dog off the lead as soon as you're inside, before you've even hit the trails. With no livestock on the common and plenty of sandy open ground to roam, it's a great spot for dogs who love a proper free run.
What should I know before visiting Hartlebury Common Nature Reserve Walk with my dog?
There are no facilities on site, so it's worth packing water and any snacks you need before you arrive.
