Scotney Castle and Lamberhurst Walk
Kent
Scotney Castle and the surrounding High Weald estate sit just south of Lamberhurst, where a moated medieval ruin and a Victorian country house share a rambling deer park. This dog friendly circular leaves Kilndown village or the National Trust car park, threads down through woodland and grazed sheep fields, crosses small streams on footbridges and emerges at the iconic Scotney Castle moat with the parkland trail in front of you.
Dogs are welcome on the parkland trail and tea room outdoor seating but must stay on lead throughout because of the working livestock and wildlife. Terrain is gentle High Weald undulations with some sloppy woodland sections that get muddy in winter and wide grazed pasture in summer. Park free on the road in Kilndown village or pay for a pre booked space at Scotney itself, then earn the dog friendly tea room afterwards.
