Pembrokeshire: Barafundle Bay Coastal Loop

Pembrokeshire

Dog Friendly Rating: 9/10 A dog friendly Stackpole Estate coastal loop taking in the famous golden cove of Barafundle Bay, dramatic Stackpole Head and the lily ponds at Bosherston.

Barafundle Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in Wales, a small crescent of fine pale sand reached only on foot from Stackpole Quay, accessed via a flight of stone steps. This dog friendly circular walk on the National Trust Stackpole Estate links Barafundle with the limestone cliff scenery of Stackpole Head, the wide sands of Broad Haven South and the famous lily ponds at Bosherston, returning to the quay through the parkland.

The walking is on grassy clifftop, woodland paths, sand dunes and well surfaced lakeside trails. Dogs are welcome on the entire estate and Barafundle is one of the few showcase beaches that allow dogs all year round. Keep dogs on the lead near the cliff edges, around grazing cattle on the parkland and where ground-nesting birds are present. The dog friendly Boathouse Tea Room is at Stackpole Quay car park. Pay and display parking, free for National Trust members.
