Pembrokeshire: Poppit Sands to Ceibwr Bay

Dogs are welcome throughout, though Poppit Sands has seasonal restrictions on part of the beach between 1 May and 30 September, so bear in mind the time of year if you're planning to let your dog enjoy the sand at the start of the walk. The northern end of the beach remains dog friendly all year round.

There are sections where off-lead time is possible, but this walk requires careful lead management throughout. Dogs must be kept on the lead through sheep fields, and close control is essential on the clifftop sections due to exposed edges — this route includes the highest sea cliffs in Wales at Cemaes Head. It's a walk that suits confident, responsive dogs whose owners are comfortable handling them on challenging terrain.

This is a strenuous clifftop walk with several steep climbs, so it's best suited to fit dogs and owners prepared for a more demanding day out. Facilities are all at the Poppit Sands end, including a café, toilets, and the dog friendly Captain's Table — there's nothing at Ceibwr, so plan accordingly. If you're finishing at Ceibwr, note that free parking there is very limited; Moylgrove village is the recommended alternative for leaving a second car.
