Bridlington North Beach
East Yorkshire
Bridlington North Beach is the quieter of Bridlington's two main resort beaches, stretching north from the harbour along North Marine Drive. The beach is wide, sandy and backed by a promenade with a more relaxed, family-friendly character than the busier South Beach. Bridlington is a major Yorkshire seaside resort and the most popular holiday destination on the East Riding coast. The North Beach has a good range of amenities nearby, and the historic old town of Bridlington with its priory church is just a short walk inland. The Danes Dyke country park and the dramatic chalk cliffs of Flamborough Head are just a few miles north, providing excellent additional walks.
A seasonal dog ban applies to Bridlington North Beach from 1 May to 30 September under the East Riding PSPO, covering the section between the northern end of North Marine Promenade and the north-eastern face of the North Pier. Dogs are not permitted on this section during the ban period, and must be on leads on the adjacent promenade. Outside the ban zone the beach north of the promenade section is dog friendly, and Flamborough, Sewerby and Fraisthorpe beaches nearby carry no restrictions at all. Outside the restriction season the full North Beach is accessible and makes for an excellent dog walk.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Bridlington North Beach dog friendly?
Bridlington North Beach is partially dog friendly, though a seasonal ban limits access during the summer months. The beach scores 5 out of 10 on our dog friendly rating, reflecting the fact that restrictions apply to a significant stretch during the busiest part of the year. Outside the ban season, and on the section of beach north of the restricted zone, it can be a pleasant spot for a dog walk.
Are dogs allowed at Bridlington North Beach year round?
Dogs are banned from the section of North Beach between the northern end of North Marine Promenade and the north-eastern face of the North Pier from 1 May to 30 September each year. Outside these dates, the full beach is accessible to dogs. If you're visiting in summer, the beach north of the restricted zone remains open to dogs year-round, and nearby beaches at Flamborough, Sewerby and Fraisthorpe carry no restrictions at all.
What should I know before visiting Bridlington North Beach with my dog?
The key thing to be aware of is the seasonal dog ban running from 1 May to 30 September, which covers the stretch between the North Marine Promenade and the North Pier — dogs are not permitted on this section during that period, and must be kept on leads on the adjacent promenade. Outside the ban zone, the beach to the north is dog friendly, and Danes Dyke country park and Flamborough Head are just a few miles away if you're looking for extra walking. Parking is available in pay-and-display car parks on North Marine Drive, and there are cafes, public toilets and full resort amenities close by.
