Doxford Hall Hotel & Spa

Alnwick, Northumberland

Yes. Dogs can stay in 6 dog friendly rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.

A Georgian country house built in 1818 in rural Northumberland, with six bedrooms that welcome dogs and a place for them, leashed, in the Bar.

Built in 1818 and set in ten acres of private grounds in a quiet corner of Northumberland, Doxford Hall is a Georgian country house of fine wood panelling, a grand handmade staircase, old stone fireplaces and grandfather clocks. Six of its 41 bedrooms welcome dogs, which makes this dog friendly hotel an easy choice when nobody wants to be left behind.

Let the Reservations team know you are bringing a dog when you book, as the dog friendly rooms are limited. A room can take up to two small dogs or one larger breed, and the hotel welcomes well behaved, fully trained pets, kept on a lead and under control at all times and off the hotel furnishings. You may leave your dog in your bedroom while you're at dinner, but not for long periods, and never leave the hotel without it.

In the Bar and the Morning Room your dog is welcome on a lead, provided it's well behaved and you keep other guests in mind. The George Runciman Restaurant holds two AA rosettes for its à la carte dining, and afternoon tea brings finger sandwiches, sweet and savoury scones and homemade cakes. Dogs aren't allowed in the George Runciman Restaurant itself, and the hotel doesn't say where else a dog can be with you over a meal, so ask before you reserve.

The Aqueous Spa has a large heated swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam room, with treatments in five therapy suites, and there is a gym, a yew maze and acres of landscaped gardens. Embleton Bay, 3.7 miles away, is Wildpack's nearest dog friendly beach for a walk on the sand with your dog, and the Embleton Bay walk on our map is 3.7 miles from the hall too.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
