Norton House Hotel & Spa

Ingliston, City of Edinburgh

Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.

A Victorian country house hotel in 55 acres minutes from Edinburgh Airport, where dogs get treats on arrival and lie at your feet in lounges, bars and terraces.

Through the original stone gatehouse and up a tree lined drive, Norton House reveals a Victorian country house in 55 acres of gardens and grounds, five minutes from Edinburgh Airport and around twenty from the city centre. Built in 1840 as a country retreat, it keeps its Jacobean influences and neo Adam interiors. With grounds, gardens and woodlands for your dog to explore, this dog friendly hotel still feels like a private country residence.

A selection of the 83 bedrooms take dogs, up to two per room, booked by phone with the reservations team, since the website can't guarantee one. Tell the hotel your dog's name and breed for a personal welcome, with plenty of treats waiting. Public areas ask for a well behaved dog on a lead, and you pick up after yours around the estate. Norton House doesn't say if dogs may stay in the room without you, so settle that when you book.

Food and drink happen in the lounges, bars and terraces, with your dog right there under your feet. Dogs aren't permitted in the restaurants, which rules out the Brasserie and its two AA rosettes for Scottish ingredients and local produce. Ask the hotel which lounges your dog can join; the glass walled conservatory lounge serves drinks, cocktails and a lounge menu through the day, and Afternoon Tea of sandwiches, pastries and warm scones is a house tradition.

Sunken in the original walled garden, the spa pairs an 18-metre indoor pool with sauna, steam and a Rasul mud chamber, and holds 5 Bubble Spa status; dogs stay out of the spa and health club. Wildpack's Water of Leith Walkway: Balerno to Edinburgh is 4.2 miles from the hotel, and Aberdour Silver Sands, 9.2 miles away, is our closest listed dog friendly beach.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
