1 / 8The Headland Hotel & Spa
Newquay, Cornwall
Yes. Dogs can stay in all rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.
A Victorian hotel on the clifftop above Fistral Beach in Newquay, where dogs get towels, treats and blankets and the South West Coast Path runs right past.
The Headland was built in 1897 directly on the clifftop above Fistral Beach, all turrets and red brick against the Atlantic, and today it is a five star Victorian hotel and resort with 86 bedrooms and 39 self-catering cottages. It is a dog friendly hotel right through: dogs are welcome in the rooms and the cottages alike, and the team greets each one with plenty of fuss.
Up to two dogs can share a room, with a little notice. Each one is welcomed with a water bowl, treats, dog towels, doggy bags and dog blankets, with advice on local dog sitters and groomers if you need it. After the beach there is a self-use dog wash station in The Square. Inside the hotel dogs stay on a lead, and they may be left alone in your room, though persistent barking or disruption may see you asked back to your room.
Well behaved dogs on a lead can join you in The Ballroom, for cakes, sandwiches and drinks with ocean views from the lounge, and in some areas of RenMor, which has floor-to-ceiling windows onto the ocean. Dogs aren't allowed in the AquaClub or The Spa. RenMor holds two AA Rosettes, and Ugly Butterfly by Adam Handling brings a Michelin star to the hotel; the dog policy doesn't mention Ugly Butterfly or The Deck, so check before booking a table with your dog.
Then there is the spa, with treatments and a Cornish-salt steam room, and an AquaClub of six pools, three of them outdoors. Outside, the South West Coast Path passes right by the hotel and Fistral Beach is a short stroll away. Wildpack's nearest dog friendly beach is Perranporth Beach, 5.6 miles away, and Holywell Bay to Penhale Sands, one of our walks, is 3.4 miles away.
Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
