1 / 8The Swan, Grasmere
Grasmere, Westmorland and Furness
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.
A coaching inn built in 1650 just outside Grasmere, beneath the fells, where dogs eat with you in designated areas and have a menu of their own.
Built in 1650 as a coaching inn, The Swan sits just outside the village of Grasmere, beneath the Lake District fells, and it appears in William Wordsworth's 1806 poem The Waggoner. After an extensive refurbishment it is a relaxed and cosy pub with rooms, and a dog friendly inn that sets out to welcome couples, families, walkers and dog owners alike.
Add your dog to the booking and the team will make sure you're allocated a suitable room; booked direct, up to two dogs can come along. Please don't leave a dog unattended in your bedroom during the stay.
Guests and passers-by alike can eat here with a dog in the dining area set aside for them, and the designated pub areas have water bowls and treats, plus the Sir Woofchester's range so dogs can tuck into something tasty too. For you there are Cumbria pub classics all day, local cask ales, and Sunday lunch from noon with hand-carved meats and towering Yorkshire puddings.
Puddings run from sticky toffee to local dairy ice creams, and The Swan was named county winner of the Pub & Bar of the Year. Grasmere is a short walk away with your dog, and Wildpack lists Fairfield Horseshoe from Rydal at 1.9 miles and Elterwater to Skelwith Bridge (Langdale Valley) at 2.5 miles.
