Windermere Manor Hotel

Windermere, Westmorland and Furness

Yes. Dogs can stay in all rooms.

A Lake District hotel once owned by Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, near Lake Windermere, with a fenced run area for dogs and a dog menu.

Windermere Manor was formerly owned by Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, and over the years it has welcomed many guide dogs as well as countless family pets, which gives this dog friendly hotel a long habit of welcoming dogs. The handsome building is set in charming gardens midway between Ambleside and Bowness, a few minutes' walk from Lake Windermere, with Hammerbank viewpoint directly opposite.

Every room is pet friendly, with a dog bed and bowls put in the room on request, and there is dog water at the entrance. Outside, dogs have a grass spending area, a concrete one for night time and a fenced grass free run area to stretch their legs. Inside, the hotel asks that dogs stay on leads and are kept clean and dry. The hotel does not state a dog limit per room, or whether one may be left unattended, so check before you go.

Your dog gets a specially crafted dog menu from Sir Woofchester; ask at reception for details. The hotel doesn't say where your dog can join you while you eat, so check when you book. For you, breakfast is a buffet in the glass covered conservatory, afternoon tea is served in the Drawing Room, the wood beamed restaurant has a menu with daily specials, and some dishes can be ordered 24 hours a day.

There is an indoor heated swimming pool, 10 m long, and a terrace with views over Lake Windermere. With your dog, Claife Heights and Windermere Western Shore, one of Wildpack's walks, lies 2.6 miles off, and Wansfell Pike (Ambleside) is a little further on.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
