You come in through the side porch to the open plan living, kitchen and dining room, which has a contemporary feel, deep comfortable seating in front of the wood burner and a TV. The dining table seats six beside French windows that open onto the garden, and the kitchen is well equipped. The second lounge, at the front of the house, looks out over neighbouring fields and has an open fire, comfortable seating, a TV and a DVD player, the quieter room for a book while the dog dozes by the fire.
There is a WC on the ground floor, and on the first floor are three bedrooms, a double, a twin and a single, served by a bathroom with a bath as well as its own shower. Outside, the enclosed garden holds a patio set with a table and chairs for meals outdoors, and the dog can be out there with you while lunch is laid. There is a sun terrace too, and secure bike storage.
Hawkshead is home to the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the grammar school where William Wordsworth was a pupil, with a choice of pubs, interesting shops and plenty of places to eat. Windermere and Coniston are a short drive away, and Claife Viewing Station, ten minutes by car, offers majestic views over Lake Windermere, a fine outing with the dog.
