Ballingers Stable Cottage is a traditional barn set within the grounds of a Grade II listed farm in the Coln Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Cotswolds. A couple travelling with one dog will love this dog friendly Cotswold barn. Inside are a wood burner and a ground floor bedroom and bathroom, and outside there are views across the neighbouring paddocks.
Step inside and the lounge is cosy, with leather seating drawn up to the wood burner, and French doors opening onto the courtyard. Light it on arrival and the fire will be going while the dog dries off from the afternoon's walk. The kitchen/diner is traditional in style and well equipped, and its farmhouse style table is the spot for a hearty breakfast before heading out again.
The twin bedroom is at the rear of the barn, with an en suite bathroom and access to the garden. Out there is an enclosed garden space with a table and chairs, just right for eating outdoors while the dog watches the paddocks next door. Come the festive season the barn is decorated for Christmas, a lovely welcome for a winter break with the dog.
Withington is one of the more peaceful Cotswold villages, where life goes by gently, with a village inn and well waymarked paths leading across the countryside for walks with the dog. Cheltenham, famed for the Gold Cup and its festivals, is within easy reach, and so are the market towns of Bourton-on-the-Water, Burford and Stow-on-the-Wold, along with Cirencester, Tetbury and Bath.
